Minecraft Programming

Minecraft is a highly popular game in the world, but it is much more than just a game.  Being a Silver Partner of Code Kingdoms (UK Company), we offer a course on developing Minecraft mods using drag and drop graphical interface editing Java codes.  By creating simple modding, students will be able to create their own mini-games within Minecraft and play with their peers!

 

Duration: 12 Hours (4 sessions)

Language: Bilingual in Cantonese and English

Pre-requisite:  Some basic coding experience is preferred

** Students need to own a Minecraft account

(it can be purchased from the convenience store or via minecraft.net)

** Prepare computer login information and administrator access for students before the first lesson
** Using 2 devices in class is recommended
(Laptop/Desktop computer with Chrome installed for practice, phone/tablet for video conference) 
** Students will be asked to switch on camera and mic during the online class
** Online classes may be recorded for internal use such as quality assurance and training purpose.

WHAT IS MINECRAFT?

Minecraft is a three-dimensional game which allows children a great amount of freedom to explore and construct in its virtual world. Minecraft is the second mostly played game of all times just after Tetris.

LEVEL 1 COURSE OUTLINE

Introduction to Minecraft Modding

Lesson 1:  Introductory Tutorial 

Learn different materials and build a house in the virtual world. And building music fountain using redstone mechanism.

 

Lesson 2:  Basic modding
Learn how to create little mod that changes the behavior of Minecraft.


Lesson 3 - 4: MiniGame

Create a mini-game in Minecraft by writing your own mods.

WHAT DO I NEED FOR THE COURSE?

Students need to bring a laptop (Windows or Mac) with Minecraft installed (downloaded from www.minecraft.net). Students also need a Minecraft account which can be purchased online from Minecraft website or via a redemption card purchased from convenience stores.

Learning is most effective when children are engaged. Minecraft has indeed become a great educational tool thanks to its highly versatile nature. Children by learning advanced technique can exploit the maximum creativity in the game and can also learn basic circuitry concepts via Minecraft's red-stone mechanism.

 

Moreover, making Minecraft mods required Java coding, it is a great way to start learning to programme.

Lesson 1:  Revision
Revise how to build a simple Minecraft mod.

 

Lesson 2:  Advanced Mini Game

Guide with an example, building an advanced mini game, with game flow and scoring system.

 

Lesson 3 - 4: Design Your Own Game
Design an unique Minecraft Mini Game.

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

The course is designed for children of age 8 or older who has no or basic understanding of Minecraft.

Advance Games Development

(Completed Level 1 and 2)

  • Parkour - a game that requires high-level of characters’ movement control, with codings we can make this game much funnier!

  • Dance to the Moosic - Create a cow themed nightclub where your players have to dance in time to the moo-sic!

  • Flappy Block - Rack up a high score and try not to touch the lava in our 3D version of Flappy Bird in Minecraft.
