Mini Maker Camp

(Makeblock Halocode and 3D Printing)

(For 7 to 12 year-old)

This course will combine the Programming and 3D printing and have children create their own real-life products.

 

Duration: 9-12 Hours

Pre-requisite:  N/A

Children will learn basic programming with Makeblock’s latest STEM educational product -  Halocode. They will work on many different mini-projects with topics on simple AI and IOT concepts like sound recognition and notification.

 

Besides, children are going to learn how to do 3D modeling and printing with Tinkercad.  Then they will combine with Halocode to make their own AI / IOT products!

 

Children will bring their products back after the course.

What is Makeblock Halocode?

Makeblock Halocode is an microprocessor designed for education.  Makeblock Halocode consists of LEDs, accelerometers, WiFi modules, voice recognition etc to facilitate the children to create projects with simple AI and IOT concepts.  

What is Tinkercad?

Tinkercad is a free online software for 3D design and printing. With simple operations, anyone without experiences can also create their own 3D models, which can be printed with 3D printer and bring it to the real world.

What do I need for the class?

Students need to bring their own Halocode and laptop (Windows or Mac) with mBlock 5.

Who should learn Makeblock Halocode and Tinkercad?

Any children between 7 - 12 with passion in programming and 3D printing.  Basic understanding of blocky language such as Scratch is recommended but not a must.

What can Makeblock Halocode and Tinkercad do?

Halocode allows us to create different AI or IOT projects, while Tinkercad helps realise children’s ideas to the real life.

WHAT IS THE COURSE OUTLINE?

The course will end-up with a complete working product for children.  We will include all the essential concepts and skills on Halocode programming and 3D model design. The course outline are as follows:

  • Concepts on blocky programming

  • Mini-projects on Makeblock Halocode (LEDs, accelerometer etc.)

  • Introduction to AI and IOT.  Projects with sound recognition and WiFi.  

  • Introduction to 3D printing

  • Tinkercad design skills
