MINECRAFT PROGRAMMING (LEVEL 2)

This course is focused on developing mods for Minecraft. By using drag and drop graphical interface editing Java code, they will create simple modding or even mini games within Minecraft!


Duration: 6 Hours (4 Classes)

Pre-requisite:  Completed Minecraft (Level 1)

WHAT IS MINECRAFT?

Minecraft is a three-dimensional game which allows children a great amount of freedom to explore and construct in its virtual world. Minecraft is the second mostly played game of all times just after Tetris.

WHY MINECRAFT COURSES?

Learning is most effective when children is engaged.  Minecraft has indeed become a great educational tool thanks to its highly versatile nature.  Children by learning advanced technique can exploit the maximum creativity in the game and can also learn basic circuitry concepts via Minecraft's red-stone mechanism.

Moreover, making Minecraft mods required Java coding, it is a great way to start learning programming.

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

The course is designed for children of age 8 or older who has completed our Minecraft (Level 1) course and wants to continue the study.

WHAT IS COURSE OUTLINE?

Mini Games Development

Lesson 1:  Revision
Revise how to build a simple Minecraft mod.

Lesson 2:  Advanced Mini Game

Guide with an example, building an advanced mini game, with game flow and scoring system.

Lesson 3 - 4: Design Your Own Mini Game
Design an unique Minecraft Mini Game.

WHAT DO I NEED FOR THE COURSE?

Students need to bring a laptop (Windows or Mac) with Minecraft installed (downloaed from www.minecraft.net).  Students also need a Minecraft account which can be purchased online from Minecraft website or via a redemption card purchased from convenience stores.

Coding101 is Microsoft's partner in Minecraft education.  We were the Programme Partner and provided technical supports to Minecraft competition co-hosted by Microsoft and HKEdCity in Learning and Teaching Expo 2016.  We have also delivered courses to schools on Minecraft.
